SONGS ABOUT VIETNAM WAR

The literature of the Vietnam war

"Listen to these authentic voices of the Vietnam war. They come to us after the journalists, the generals and the politicians have had their say. No full understanding of the most disastrous foreign war in American history can be complete without reading these letters from the GIs to their loved ones back home. They tell the total truth about the American soldier, and his feelings about the Vietnam war." -- Peter Arnett

The literature of the vietnam war stories aren't always about war, per se. they aren't about bombs and bullets and military maneuvers. They aren't about tactics, they aren't about foxhole and canteens. A war story, like any good story, is finally about the human heart. ---- Tim O'Brien http://www.cofc.edu/VietnamRetro/farrell.html
